今週は、イングランドのシングルモルトを2本ご紹介します。
コッツウォルズ シグネチャー シングルモルト
コッツウォルズ地方で初めて造られたウイスキー。地元産の大麦をフロアモルティングで仕上げ、STR (shaved, toasted and re-charred)加工の 赤ワイン樽とファーストフィルのバーボン樽で熟成させています。蜂蜜、赤い果実、オレンジマーマレードに、バニラとほのかなスパイス。フルーティーで豊かな味わいながら、とても親しみやすい一本です。
ザ・イングリッシュ シェリーカスク・マチュアード
ファーストフィルのペドロ・ヒメネス（PX）シェリー樽で、最初から最後まで熟成。よりリッチで贅沢な一杯です。ドライフルーツ、イチジク、フルーツケーキ、蜂蜜、アーモンド。甘く長い余韻が続きます。2024年のワールド・ウイスキー・アワードでは「ワールド・ベスト・シングルモルト」に選ばれ、本場スコットランドを抑えての受賞となりました。※こちらのボトルは残りわずかです！

When we think of whisky, Scotland might be the first place that comes to mind. But England has been quietly building a whisky scene of its own, and it’s starting to turn heads.
This week, we’re introducing two English single malts.
Cotswolds Signature Single Malt
The first whisky ever made in the Cotswolds, crafted from locally grown, traditionally floor-malted barley and matured in STR (shaved, toasted and re-charred) red wine and first-fill bourbon casks. Expect honey, red fruits and orange marmalade, with vanilla and gentle spice. Rich, fruity and wonderfully approachable.
The English Sherry Cask Matured
Fully matured in first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, this is a richer, more indulgent dram. Think dried fruits, figs, fruit cake, honey and almonds, with a long, sweet finish. In 2024, it was named World’s Best Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards, beating Scotland at its own game.
